Alicia Phen, a Toronto-based illustrator and designer, has a penchant for worlds far from her own. Her work treads the space between heavy thought and whimsy, often weaving in narratives from the folktales and myths she finds herself lost in. She credits the mélange of her Chinese-Indian-Canadian cultural identity—and her lifelong struggle to connect with it—as the reason she is drawn to the small-world aspects that make stories universal.
Alicia primarily illustrates using digital mediums, allowing her the flexibility to experiment with various styles while maintaining unity through a playful use of colour. Time and time again, her illustrations strive to capture the myth and magic of every day.
Alicia is a new grad of Sheridan College's Honours Bachelor of Illustration 2024 cohort, and is now available for work!
